El Restorante De Valentino

Welcome to Thomas' Restorante De Valentino!! I came home this Valentines day to  candles EVERYWHERE, our table pushed into the middle of our living room, and rose petals from long stemmed roses covering the whole apartment (the poor dear didn't know they were four times more expensive, I felt like I was walking in gold!). Oh! And the most creative part!
Our own fireplace! He is so romantic! He then began serving me with love potion (cherry 7 up) and all sorts of delicacies from the menu, complete with appetizers, entrees, and dessert!
Allow me to translate; Breadstick Del Caesar is actually Little Caesars breadsticks and Helado Riquismo was bunny tracks ice cream. Oh, he is so clever. I spent a good amount of time that I should have been eating, cracking up at the menu that I was squinting at in the candlelight.
I don't know if I was laughing harder because my cheese apparently came from a Bengal tiger or because Thomas actually looked up "A la mode" and discovered that it means fashionable.

When Thomas and I went to Gordon Ramsey's restaurant in NYC over Christmas break, we were given a tour of the plebeian eating area (where we were sat), the VIP eating area, and the VVIP eating area which was a special table built into the kitchen where you could watch the chefs work. I got to save myself 1500+ dollars, I got WAY better food than that stuff they call "gourmet," not to mention my chef was a million times hotter than anything I'd see there!! My cute boy worked his buns off serving me the most delicious 6 course meal (I ate everything on the menu)!

After dinner, Thomas and I got to know each other (and those long stem rose petals) a little better and then we watched the classic and always romantic Pride and Prejudice. Talk about a perfect Valentines Day!!!! And I haven't even mentioned the gifts! I was a cliche wifey and got Thomas Miami Heat vs. Utah Jazz tickets. He had a feeling that was what I bought him, however, so I had to tell him I got a gift certificate to some French restaurant in SLC first. Needless to say, basketball was slightly more his cup o' tea. :) He got me T. Swift perfume and tons of awesome bubble bath (we are on a big bath kick right now).
AH I adore this man.

chick flicks and PMS

Sierra and I saw The Vow tonight while Thomas stayed home and played Batman on the Xbox with his friend Chris. It was weird!! I think it was the first time in six months Thomas or I had done anything social in the evening with other people.

I've heard people say that chick flicks are the female pornography because it creates unrealistic expectations for relationships. I always thought that was dramatic until tonight when my female mood swing hormones were RAGING. I came home so giddy and wanting to cuddle and say romantic things all night... naturally Thomas was still finishing up saving the world with Chris when I came home, ready for a night in the life of fictional romance. So when I didnt immediately get the showers of love I wanted my mood snapped 180 degrees in the other direction! It was the most bizarre thing my emotions have ever experienced. The second Chris left I inexplicably burst into tears because my life isn't a heart-wrenching romance.

Coming home to the bat cave wasnt exactly walking into The Vow and my PMS required romance. However, Thomas' reaction was so simple and "us" it made me feel that we had our own little beautifully average love story. No memory loss or years of fighting for each other, just Thomas scooping me up and putting me on the bed, changing me into my pjs and then holding me until he fell asleep and I came out here to blog (I apparently cant sleep with 759,000 emotions surging through me).
Thomas and I definitely have our hard days but I got my own imperfect fairy tale and its everything I ever dreamed of. Okay i'm posting this.. and since its 3:18 and im an emotional wreck i'll probably come back tomorrow and have to rewrite it or just delete it all.

first impressions

I was lucky enough to be invited to Connecticut for the Fourth of July and for the big engagement party this year! I was so excited for the chance to see NYC and Boston and he ADORABLE town of Newtown, however.. I was borderline terrified to meet the soon-to-be in-laws. Not only was i meeting his parents, but every one of his four siblings and their kids and every one he's ever known at our party.

I got into JFK at about 1 or 2 in the morning and Thomas and his brother-in-law drove me the hour to Connecticut. When i got in bed I insisted that Thomas come get me when he woke up so that I wouldnt have to go down to meet all of his sisters alone. I awoke the next morning, not to Thomas' sweet kiss but the pretty little face of Brooklyn, Eryns three year old daughter. So I was wide awake and could hear the mumblings of his three sisters downstairs, Thomas wasn't answering his phone as usual, and I began to feel awkward for sleeping in so late. So I braved meeting his sisters all by my lonesome. It was nice and casual small talk and they were very nice. But still, in my head, I felt like I was in a job interview... I was only hoping I would be an "acceptable" addition to the Hutchison clan.

When Thomas finally emerged he brought me upstairs to grab some of his staple black socks in the room where his sister Brittany and her baby were staying. I hadnt seen him in a couple months so its understandable that we got a little "fresh" in the middle of the room. I MAY have had my hand up the back of his shirt and he May have had his hand lightly resting on my bum. After we got his socks we walked back down to the kitchen where his sisters were grouped around the island with the baby monitor right in the middle of them with the screen off. I remembered seeing it on earlier that morning and i also remembered that it was a video baby monitor. Oh shoot, oh shoot, oh shoot, i thought, they definitely saw!! But when i brought it up to Thomas he was adamant that there was no way they could have seen. I was uneasy all day though. That night the ENTIRE family was standing around the kitchen making small talk. They transitioned so smoothly into baby monitors that i didn't pick up on the subtle clues and sexual innuendos until it was too late and the entire family was laughing hysterically. Thomas ran out one door and abandoned me, essentially leaving me to deal with my miserable shame all on my own. Yep. First impressions.
